she sat staring out into the inky abyss that was the ocean. It was the first time in 16 years that she had been outside willingly. Feeling the heavy cold stone around her neck, she drew some comfort in the fact that she would no longer burn in the rays of the setting sun. closing her eyes she recounted memories of things that had been buried while living at Hex Hall. closing her eyes, she let one tear slip down her cheek. opening her eyes a few minutes later. she watched the dark storm clouds approach and smash the memory to shards, and envelop her. the rain pattering down on her hair and soaking her bones the lightning struck the ground miles away. the thunder shook the earth. kids scrambled to get inside but she made no move to follow them, instead she layed down in her back and let the rain soak into her ugly uniform.
