Two Faces... by CrystallizedDusk

---
Mer-sirens, often called "Sea Demons," live all over the Caribbean Seas. This particular breed called a 'Southern Black' live down near the Mariana Trenches, seeing clear in the darkness. Their fins and eyes can glow, they can withstand sub-zero temperatures and their scales are harder than a suit of iron. They all have two faces. The first is a friendly guise to lure in sailors with their looks or beautiful voices and devour them. The second is their true form...

-Continued-
Their supposed gentle or saucy demeanor melts away to reveal a beast covered in shiny silver-blue scales and sharp spines filled with poison. In self-defense, they can make their saliva and claw tips fill with the strong fluid as well. Their tails, fins, and claws can tear a sheet of metal, and they can bite through a 23-foot tree stump with relative ease. Southern Blacks are strictly carnivorous, and twice as deadly around mating season, males often fighting themselves and mates.
