Their supposed gentle or saucy demeanor melts away to reveal a beast covered in shiny silver-blue scales and sharp spines filled with poison. In self-defense, they can make their saliva and claw tips fill with the strong fluid as well. Their tails, fins, and claws can tear a sheet of metal, and they can bite through a 23-foot tree stump with relative ease. Southern Blacks are strictly carnivorous, and twice as deadly around mating season, males often fighting themselves and mates.
