Bible Study by Bible_Study

For those of you who dont know, on the @bible_study account, we are currently going through the book of Romans.

Some have been asking about the weekly Bible study. It has proven harder to coordinate than expected, due to different time zones, school, etc.
As well as the comment delay, making it difficult to converse.

However, since there is an interest in studying the Bible, we will still post when possible. We are going to focus on individual passages, and allow people to read and post as they have time. We will post these using the #biblestudy tag
If you would like to share your own Biblical pictures, please use #biblestudy too.

,,,,yall are gonna teach anti-lgbt garbage mixed in with feel good messages arent you :skull:

cuz no matter how nice you all act to others, if you dont respect basic human rights and you believe the lgbt community doesnt deserve to go to heaven for simply loving somebody or being something that doesnt fit your cookie cutter mold, then either you're a hypocrite because the bible says to love everyone, or god's a hypocrite for saying that and then actively teaching people to hate others
honestly the bible itself is frankly full of hypocrisy everywhere

i know this comment/accusation seems out of left field, but i know what yall runnin the account and your friends have been up to in the past :/

I can see why there would be confusion in your mind on the topic with the way you look at it. If one is not a Christian, there is simply no way to know, nor rules that say ****$exuality is wrong. Some would say "well it's just not the natural way of things" but that still doesn't explain or express that it is wrong. However, taking a Christian perspective, we know that it is wrong because several different locations in the bible where it specifically states that ****$exuality is a

Addressing where you said "love everyone" The bible says 'to love your neighbor as your self.' It also says 'Be kind to one another forgiving one another just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.' does that ound the kind of LOVE we are talking about? You are speaking of *********. The Bible does not say "have $ex with your neighbor" or "Have $ex with one another just as Christ did wit-" Need I go on? Obviously something does not sound right there, so LOVE and $ex fall under 2 different categ-

When taken out of context, yes the Bible does contradict itself, just like anything else when taken out of context. However when in context it makes complete sense.

@Elininjakat Biblical love and worldly love are two very different things. Biblical love is treating others the way Jesus treated us. Worldly love is chasing our own personal desires. So if a Christian tells you that you're sinning, it's not because it's unloving, they are trying to help you see. I'm gonna use an old analogy. A child wants to touch a hot stove, I don't think "They really want to touch that, so I'll let them do it because doing what they want makes them happy." No, I will stop h

@tb_studios
have you considered the bible is not the end-all-be-all truth? theres no real, genuine proof that things in the bible are true, and all the proof i've ever seen is circling back to things written within Only The Bible, and arent actually in reality. you cant prove things within it happened or are true just by saying it happened, i could say some guy stole my bike and that wouldnt make it true unless i actually showed that the guy Had My Bike with Real Proof like a video

so, you "know that it is wrong" /how/? without that book, would you come to the same conclusion? sin doesn't exist as a concept for people who don't know the bible exists. alternatively, people follow a separate religious doctrine that might not say it is a sin. what makes yours the true, absolute one, above them and their gods?

also, i never even mentioned s/x??? i get that the word "s/xuality" is in the term, but i didnt mention it. also, --

Elininjakat

not every gay person is constantly having or interested in that kind of thing, just like any typical man-and-woman couple. ive known quite a few lgbt people who straightup just don't do that kind of thing, but dont fall "under the norm" of a man-and-woman relationship. are they still sinning? is love between them, on its own a sin? you made the point to /clearly separate/ love and s/x.

it's been a while since i've read the bible myself (since reading it actively brings me lots of bad thoughts/memories), but im pretty sure the multiple accounts of jesus's resurrection and the people present to see it, which SHOULD BE ACCURATE if your god is a perfect writer/guide to the writers, are all different and conflicting in some way or another

also @bible_studies, my parents are both christian and their attempts at "help" have actively made me hate myself and feel like a mistake for things i cannot change. even if christian love is well meaning, it is incredibly harmful and outright toxic in--

Elininjakat

04 Sep, 2022, 1:11 am

instances where the "problem" is part of a person's identity. you can't just make yourself stop being gay, or trans. trust me, i've tried. many people have tried.
there's many cases of "christian love" where it turns into shunning and disowning when the child doesn't turn out like a carbon copy of their parents ideals.
but i bet you're gonna say theyre not "true christians" if they did that to someone, right? i mostly say that because of hearing that statement before, but what makes a true christian?? theres so many different sects of christianity that all believe differing things :/

i think im done talking. i have a weird feeling like yall arent gonna listen, considering my own past experiences of christians not listening :/

@Elininjakat This is the place we are announcing a Bible study. As was mentioned, if you don't want to participate you don't have to.
If you would like to debate @TB_Studios then you will have to arrange that with him in some venue that works for both of you.
If you want someone who is a Christian to listen to you then I would be willing to do so in a spot we agree upon, whether in the gallery or otherwise. In the meantime, as a parent myself, I hope you find a way to discuss with your parents, if that is even possible.
Beyond that, you have said your view. And it is on record. So please keep further discussion here on the topic of the upcoming study.

@Elininjakat If you are allowed to have access to the Internet or some source where you can look and see if anyone has proof that the bible is real, than I highly encourage you to do so.
If you do some research then you will find that there is more evidence that the bible is historically accurate, then you would probably find on cave people or any other ancient history. There are so many evidences on the matter that if one decides to not believe it, it is simply because they do not want to. If-

TB_studios

05 Sep, 2022, 4:16 pm

you do not want to believe the bible if you do not want too. However my point being that there is just as much proof on the bible as there is on any other ancient history. So at some point, yes it comes to faith, just like Cave People. I did not actually see cave people, but do I believe they existed. Yes, because there are historical records that make it tangible.

@Elininjakat It would be un-Christan to hold non belevers to he same values that we hold us to. God tells us to be gentle to thous who are under the influence of the god of the age. And just so u know i have never told anyone this but im sometimes artacted to men! but i have prayed throu it and The Holy Spirit has helped me to love as he wants me to love! There is healing in God even if you dont believe we would love to have you join us!

CoolDude2007

05 Sep, 2022, 9:08 pm

and to answer a your question what makes a Christian a Christian I think the best answer is someone who believes that God was kiled on the cross and was raside from the dead. We also believe that throu his deth he has brought total forgivnes for all of your sins and if you believe you will go to Heaven and be resorected on the last day and live for all of eternity with the triuni God at the end of the age!

Given that some have referenced the historicity of the Scriptures, or whether events in Scripture are only found described there, I will note a few examples where historical finds relate to biblical events.
Moabite stone (Mesha Stele) records the words of the Moabite king Mesha, and describes how he had been in subjection to the Israelites, but then rebelled. This verifies the account in 2 Kings 3 of the same events in Scripture.
The Sennacherib Prism recounts from the perspective of the Assyrian king how Sennacherib's forces destroyed the settlements of Judah, besides Jerusalem, how tribute was paid by Hezekiah, and how Jerusalem was surrounded, but was not taken. This agrees with Kings, Chronicles and Isaiah. The accounts differ in one point, as to why Jerusalem was not taken, though it would be unlikely for Sennacherib to admit to the events recorded if they did happen in his annals.
The siege of Lachish noted in the same narrative is commemorated by the Lachish Reliefs, carvings on the wall of the Assyrian king's palace.
The Siloam inscription is a document from the biblical time period commemorating the actions of Hezekiah, described in the Bible, in diverting the water source into the city in the pool of Siloam to protect against a siege.
The Tel Dan inscription verifies the existence of king David as his house is referenced.
The Black Obelisk verifies the existence of both Jehu, and of a previous king in Israel Omri, and pictures Jehu bringing tribute.
Scholars doubted the existence of Belshazzar in the book of Daniel, because Nabonidus was known to be the last king of Babylon. However, the Nabonidus Cylinders verify that Belshazzar did exist, and was the eldest son of Nabonidus who was in self-imposed exile. The Nabonidus Chronicle also verified that Belshazzar was left to administrate in his absence, which matches with the Scriptural account where Belshazzar offers Daniel 3rd place in the kingdom--because Belshazzar was 2nd, and Nabonidus 1st.
The Babylonian king Nebachadnezzar boasted of his building projects in the book of Daniel. The bricks stamped with his name were found in the ruins, testifying to these building projects.
The Pilate Stone found at Caesarea Maritima indicates the historicity of Pontius Pilate the governor of Judea who sentenced Jesus.
These are just a few of the better known stone or clay records that have been found that came to mind. There are other historical accounts, coins picturing rulers mentioned, etc. that verify the historicity of the Scriptures.
There are still a number of items to be verified, or clarified in the history recorded. But as various finds continue we see a good deal of correspondence.
