@AutumnColors First AC game I played was Game Cube one, (N64 one was japanese exclusive, but GC one is just an advanced port rlly) looking back it's weird how you don't notice technological limitations when you're invested in the game. But now everyone notices.
Besides, I think with social media people have really lost the heart of Animal Crossing really, the creator thought up of the game when he was seperated from his family due to work and wanted a way to have sort of a connection, that's why you can trade with other players and send them letters, in a way, making the game a pseudo-multiplayer game even when it's single player.
I'm just remembering, animal crossing was originally conceptualized as a sort of RPG where people on different save files could progress through dungeons and leave messages or items for other players on the same memory card.
