The coloring seems to give this an eerie sensation. No, not just the colors... the way the hair doesn't reveal the face. The fact this person is in the woods late at night dressed like that. The skin seemingly pale under the moonlight. Is it a person? Or perhaps...
...I'm sorry if my depiction of your drawing went to a ghastly tangent. My mind is stuck on halloween already. This is very amazing! Especially the strands of her hair, the folds of the dress, and even the details on the hand. Very stunning scene!
And thanks for the tip to the tutorial! It was very informative ^u^
The original purpose of the reference was for learning the folds. But it was a bright yellow/orange dress in green woods with warmer sunlight. So I thought it would be a fun challenge to do moonlight, and would cause some tension in the scene. The dress is similar color to this #Clothfoldtall which also used the reference from that class, but with a different background, and the head covering added. They had reference with her face showing, but I liked this one with the hair spinning around, though I considered imposing a face from a different reference with this body pose. You can mix and match. I also like to prepare the reference ahead of time so I used a color filter with a solid white layer which I find better than the desaturate option for getting correct bland and white values. Then I added in some tone on the reference in Corel Photopaint. This does allow for various backstories. It could be a young girl on a farm who is about to go to her first ball and is practiciing turns. It could be a widow who returns to the place that she danced with her husband. It could be some undead creature. It could be a CIA MKUltra asset who has been activated. Since it is ambiguous, feel free to pick the story you like best!
In that case, I really enjoyed the twists you added to the original scene. That's also very clever to prepare your reference before you start drawing. It's amazing how any of those backstories feels possible with this drawing! It all accumulates to create such a unique charm that I don't get to see very often.

@ChaoticMess88 Thank you, it was a challenge to work without much of the warm tones.

@Puzzled @ChaoticMess88 It is an unusual scenario.
