Out of the Earth by tall73

Revelation 13:11  And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
12  And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13  And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14  And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
15  And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
16  And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17  And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Revelation 19:11  And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12  His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13  And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14  And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15  And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16  And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
17  And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
18  That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.
19  And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
20  And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
21  And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

Wow, that was a mouthful xD Points for the expository reading though, lot of people these days are just cherry picking and using specific parts of the Bible for specific things in there lives, taking it out of context for things they think are relevant but really are not.

I think it's a great idea to create Bible inspired creatures!

@CoolDude2007 If you are in Christ you will live to see what everything means!

So cool! I love seeing different interpretations of the beasts of Revelations, its really interesting to draw them as if te descriptions were literal. its always cool to see other believers out there too :)
Keep it up and God bless!

@jikkermanccini it is interesting to compare notes on the meaning, and there are a variety of views. I paint them more as described to get people interested in the subject!

i personal believe that it is not all literal wether Jonh was use metihrs, the meaning was lost in transalatio or he just didn't understand what he was seeing and was just doing the best he could to discribe it which i think is the most likely.

@CoolDude2007 Yes, the things revealed were placed in symbols. The word translated signified can carry such connotations.

Rev 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
Given that John was exiled on Patmos at the time he likely would need to communicate in code in any case for it to survive as it went through the Romans to the churches.
Much of the imagery draws on Old Testament references. There are hundres of allusions to prior Scripture, and recognizing those can help understanding.

For instance, in Daniel 7 you see four beasts, which represent kingdoms. And in Revelation 13 you have a beast which has characteristics of those four beasts.
Rev 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
Rev 13:2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
This beast comes out of the sea, as did those in Daniel 7. So it likely points to a political, and in this case also religious, power.

The second beast in Revelation 13, the one pictured in this painting, resembled a lamb, but spoke as a dragon.
In Revelation Jesus is portrayed as the Lamb, who was slain for us. This beast is an imposter, who presents as a lamb, but is actually more like the dragon.
The dragon is Satan, the Devil. This is spelled out in chapter 12.
Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
It refers back to the garden account in Genesis in which the serpent deceived Eve when Adam and Eve ate from the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil

These impose the mark of the beast. They are, in a sense, almost a false trinity, the dragon, beast and false prophet. And the mark of the beast is a counterfeit of the seal of God, referenced in chapter 7, 14, etc. which is given to God's faithful.

Rev 7:2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,
Rev 7:3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
Rev 14:1  And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.

Those who are loyal to God receive His seal and worship Him.

And those who are loyal to the dragon, or just give in to avoid consequences, receive the mark of the beast and worship the dragon and the beast.
Rev 13:4  And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

The symbol of the seal of God likely alludes back to Ezekiel 8-9. Ezekiel sees the leaders and much of the people have abandoned God and worship idols.
God indicates a coming judgment:

Eze 9:1  He cried also in mine ears with a loud voice, saying, Cause them that have charge over the city to draw near, even every man with his destroying weapon in his hand.
Eze 9:2  And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer's inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood beside the brasen altar.
Eze 9:3  And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon he was, to the threshold of the house. And he called to the man clothed with linen, which had the writer's inkhorn by his side;
Eze 9:4  And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.
Eze 9:5  And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity:
Eze 9:6  Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.

So however people interpret the fulfillment of the prophecies of Revelation, one of the major themes is that we should remain loyal to God and worship Him.

Wow! well said all of it! Where did you get your information on the symbolic interpretation? Referring back to the old testament? It sounded similar to the Bible Projects take.

@TB_Studios when you get old it is hard to know the first place you heard something! Most commentators recognize the OT allusions in Revelation, as well as NT references, and intertestamental literature references.
In any case nearly two decades ago I went through the book of Revelation with other posters on a Christian forum trying to figure out the various allusions in each chapter and section. It was a fun project, though we didn't get to all of them by far. And I am always noting new ones when going through a passage again.
Probably close to 30 years ago I first came across the notion. And it is hard to miss if you read a lot of the Bible then read through Revelation. You will see it everywhere.
Good commentaries or cross references in your Bible will also point out specific parallels.

Yea I know what you mean, when you are going through the Bible and you see the similaritys, it is rather fun going through and finding the connections in it.
