So I started with a lightly gradiented base for the water, light on top then darker as it got to the bottom of the canvas

For the ripples, I chose a much lighter color and used the sketch to roughly draw vaguely hexagon-shaped squiggle lines across the surface of the water, then used the eraser on a low opacity to gently erase the edges into a nice fade

For the shine that appears by the legs of the character, I used the airbrush with a bright color (I believe I used the same color as the water ripples) to lay down a bright patch with soft edges, then carefully went over it using the Classic Pen Brush and creating oval shapes, making sure to use the eyedropper often to keep the shine gradient
