Poor Pinkie lost all faith in herself and her special talents when all of her best friends were lying to her, the greatest damage can be done by those we trust the most as evidenced by Pinkie's reaction.
...She didn't know after all that they were planning a surprise Birthday party for her, yes I know that's the point but she was so focussed on making her friends happy that she forgot all about her own Birthday.
One example of many that show how wonderful a friend Pinkie Pie is! ^w^
