Well, you see.... Sona and her friends are.... special.
Several thousand years ago they were charged to protect 3 special gems. Sonamura's charge was the Roanoke Amethyst, said to bring unyielding speed and creativity to the bearer.
No-one has had a successful attempt at taking them. You see, the three.... aren't human, nor mortal.
