To celebrate Juneteenth i was determined to get this finished by the end of the day so this is also a bit of a speed draw. Even as a European the importance of emancipation of ******* black people in the US is deeply impactful to the world. I observe emancipation dates of many countries but US emancipation is particularly impactful both because of the severity of US racism and how the Civil Rights movement lead by black Americans shaped human rights internationally.

The Colors! Gallery moderators will look at it as soon as possible.

No matter where you are in the world regardless of race your life has been positively impacted by the heroes of Civil Rights. Maya Angelou is absolutely one of those heroes. Recommended reading of hers, 'I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.' In the US her work is still getting silenced by racists. It is banned from some public libraries universities and schools in the US. Why you may ask? Because she dares to talk about the abuses of racism she personally faced.

@CoolDude2007 Juneteenth (June 19th) is a US national holiday celebrating the emancipation of black americans from s*lavery. It has been celebrated by many Americans since 1865 but was only declared a federally observed date in 2021. It is an opportunity for reflection on historic and current racism as well as celebrating those who have fought valiantly against it. A truly special day well worth observing.

Her work is particularly important to me as someone who worked with kids living in a*busive circumstances.
