I think I remember once hearing herrons be refered to as ~snake birds~ once. When you learn of their table manors, it's not hard to see why they've that nickname.
They are beautiful though. You've captured its essence well in this painting.

Heron grey is the color I painted my wall!
because my neightborhood is called Heronwood..
I wanted some blue grey then I had to pick between dove grey or heron grey..
