Dr. Sun Yet-San Gardens - Dec by cheechoo98

Plein-air. When I was painting it I was fine - by the time I finished it, I was shivering uncontrollaby from sitting out in the cold and on a hard, cold rock. Warm Tea, and I'm fine now.

I'm not glad you went through all that but, I am tremendously glad this is finished and it looks beautiful. :)

Hey cheechoo98, how's your dad? I hope he's doing well. I was wondering, have you thought about interviewing him about his life and asking him about the things he's experienced from childhood all the way through to present day? You may want to use a video camera for this. My older sister did this for my grand father many years ago and we have some pretty good stories and great advice he's given us that we still learn from now.

Thanks for asking, Inque.. He is doing really well! We are off from seeing any more doctors for a 3 month period, so it's good to have a 'vacation' from that. I do have some of his stories collected in notebooks and on voice recorder, but I know I should do it on video too. Yeah.. the more I think about it, Video is probably the best option.. time to get one! He does have some interesting/sad/ stories for the Japanese invasion of China in WWII. Glad you have done that for your Grandfather and your family. It's invaluable. Take care.

I'm glad you're dad's feeling better. You know. You may even make a movie from what he tells you. Or like Art Spiegelman, you could write and draw an autobiographical story of your dad's life. In Art's case, his dad was... well read 'MAUS' and you'll see what I mean when I say this is something you'll thank me for later. MAUS is a very powerful story. I'm not saying do it for the money. And, I'm not saying do it for the fame. What I am saying is you want your children's kids to know their their great grandfather. Let me know how it turns out. :) @Boombox: I'm glad you're back. I hope to see some art from you soon. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! :D

Yeah.. Maus is a great book. I read it when it came out back in the day! Pretty much 'opened' my eyes to that way of storytelling and made me think of writing my dad's story that way. Maus was it, man!
