started playing black version 2 again and its just kinda got me thinking. you can only pick male or female ingame for your character, and a plethora of other games are like that too
and im not either of those. i usually pick male because i /guess/ thats closer to how i want to present, but in terms of gender it feels wrong
and female feels wrong too. not /as/ wrong but maybe thats just because im used to it irl, i know i hate my afab body lol
The Colors! Gallery moderators will look at it as soon as possible.

i always get scared of showing my parents my games, they already know im nonbinary but they dont like it, so i dont want them seeing me picking anything other than 'girl'. i dont want them seeing a name other than my deadname (whether its my nickname eli or my chosen name elias), and so i purposefully try to avoid dialogue that would show that if i Do show them my games
and it just. kinda makes me feel like i shouldnt exist, yknow
i dont feel Normal. i wonder if im just trying to seem ""different"" and ""cool"" just to fit in, i know thats what my parents think
either that or they think im being forced to be nonbinary which i am Not lmao
idk i just wanna play my games without going :/ at them and thinking bad things i just wanna enjoy them, a lot of games make me feel better when im down but i still cant escape everything i guess lol

It's unfortunate that games do that, especially in this time. I honestly don't understand why companies don't do a gender-neutral option, I guess they don't understand that there are people like you out there. Maybe one day they'll get it right, but I think for now it's good for you to try your best to stay positive about it, even if does suck. Just try to do things that make you feel your happiest in any situation. Remember, even if you feel alone in this sometimes dark and depressing world, there's always someone who knows exactly what you're going through. Keep up the good work, you're brilliant.

@grumpybritishperson
thank you hela
to be fair the game i mentioned is from 2012, where things like being trans or nonbinary were far less known about compared to being gay, but... eh theres other modern games that still do it
i'll do my best to stay positive, it isnt the first time ive had to deal with this and i know it wont be the last fhdkdnds :')

That's the spirit! Just keep doing what you're doing, and of course, keep being awesome like what you've already been doing!

Yeaaah it really sucks that most games only have M/F options :/ At least it's getting a little better, I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure ACNH never directly asks what gender you want to be and doesn't gender-lock any specific hair or faces or anything which is nice,, and then there's games like UT where the protagonist is canonically nb so I'm glad it's improving at least a little :,) Hopefully it continues to improve in the future
Please don't feel bad or punish yourself tho for not using your deadname or for choosing a gender that's not what you were assigned at birth in video games tho ;; If games are an escape for you, then they deserve to be your safe space and anyone who has any qualms with that can frick off :/ At the end of the day it's /your/ life and you have to do what makes you the most happy and what's best for you ;; And if your parents want to disagree with that, well then that's their problem, not yours

@Perrocrafter
desculpe no hablo espanol :( sorry
@-Vivie- @HammerdStardust
its mostly just for a comforts sake that i dont wanna show my parents a male or whatever else character, since i know theyll just ask questions about it or at least maybe judge me :')
ive always picked female characters otherwise. also as for animal crossing ur right vivie, they dont specifically ask ur gender? but they Do ask 'what is your style' and have masculine and feminine, after that tho ur free to customize--

however you feel like lmao, at least in new horizons anyway. the npcs and villagers all also refer to you by they/them always so that was a fun surprise for me :0
i just hope in the future games just let you either put your own pronouns in (so, support for neos) or at the very add a third option for nonbinary (and default to they/them)
