nice painting! I think this reference is very nice, an emotional face, interesting overlapping shapes, strong dynamic light dark contrast, and cropped to the extreme,
in a way I think the photo is too good and some photos are not able to become better drawings.
but I might be speaking about my personal taste, so just keep practising and you learn about this yourself :)
