I am hoping to try to start up commissions so I was wonder what my "art" might be worth to you guys as a sort of starting point on what I might price them. This is in a very early stage because commissions are something I have wanted to do, but never got around to it until now due to multiple reasons and a lack of intelligence on how the internet works.

i have a question...
i haven't watched the mlp tv show in years, and maybe last year ? i saw that there was like 8 seasons, way more than around the 4 i had thought there to be. I have seen the newish movie (the one with the earth pony restoring magic and the song that one pony was just chanting 'mob' lol) and I want to know if you know if the newer seasons are any good? like, would someone older than the intended age group enjoy it?
just curious...

@CipherDragon
There are 9 seasons of MLP friendship is magic, I think that you might be able to enjoy it, I know that I personally liked the seasons until 8 and 9 when the writing of the show went down a little and that was when I was somewhere between 16, 17 or 18 (Don't quite remember) so I was beyond the age intended to like the show. I think that at least the first 7 seasons are good, the last two are a bit weak. But that's just me, I could be wrong. I watched the new MLP movie too for the new MLP generation and I enjoyed it despite being 19, so there is hope for anyone I think.

I asked my mom, who used to do something similar to this, what she thought, and she said that the price should depend on several factors.
1: How much time you spend working on it. -She recommended about $10 an hour give or take.
2: The difficulty in topic, either for you or in general. -Like if you had difficulty drawing trees, and someone wanted you to draw a forest scene, you might charge more because it's a difficult subject for you.
(Continued in another comment. Just a sec...)

I personally would charge extra for designing OCs as well. As I'm sure you know, a lot of work can go into making one, and people can be VERY picky about them. So you might have to draw many concepts before even getting started on the final piece.
Finally: Charge more if there is any sort of rush on the piece. -If, though I think it's unlikely at the current point, someone says that they need a piece done quickly, charge them extra for the inconvenience, as rushes can be very stressful.

Mom said that after you've decided price points based on the above conditions, you should talk with your potential buyer and adjust the price based on what they are willing to spend or can afford. Just be sure to have set yourself a bottom line price you aren't willing to go under.
I hope this helps and feel free to ask any questions! I'll be willing to help!
(Sorry, for how much space this took...)

if it takes 20+ mins: 15$
40+ mins: 30$
1+ hrs: 40$
2+ hrs: 80$
3+ hrs: 120$
you get the gist
