Finally finished! Yep, realism. First time using my practice for an actual piece! NO REFERENCE!!!
For two contests:
#rdcontest
+
#wc462
Thanks to @Hailsss for helping me with the eyes, I think it worked out spectacularly!!
-For wc462:
The Kanji in this represents (1) "Limitless" And (2) "No" or "Nothing"
Therefore representing Gojo Satoru's Domain Expansion- "Infinite Void" or in the manga "Infinity Void".
Thank you!!

Thank you for being the first person to invite critique from the realism discussion group, using the tag #rdfb.
So let's start with the basics. I don't know anything about this character, but did look it up online, so this is just about the general elements of realistic people, not the character, etc. I like that you started by forming the whole face, even though some of it wound up being covered. That helps to get some idea of the placement of the different elements.
The hair combines shadow and light areas, which is helpful, and has a large overall shape, before going just into individual strands, which is a positive.
You seem to have your light coming from above on this piece, so it is good to have worked that out.
You have strong darks and strong lights, which helps it read well.
Lighting is the biggest area for improvement, and this is a challenge when working without reference. You have to think through how light usually works, and apply it in a specific situation. Drawing from a specific reference helps the brain to see examples of this, but it is also good to think through construction without reference.
Shadows are going to be broken into two areas, so when constructing a figure without reference, be sure to think through both types.
a. cast shadows are stronger shadows that project from an object obscuring light. We see some of this here in the areas beneath the hair. The nostrils are also strong areas of shadow. However, consider that the protruding shape of the nose would form a cast shadow which would cast down even below the nostrils themselves if the light is from above.
Also, we tend to think of the whites of the eyes as being close to white, but often eyes are in shadow due to the protruding brow ridge. So they usually wind up being some darker shade, especially with the hair over-hanging as in this example. Try to think of shadows as effecting all the parts, not just the skin.
b. form shadows. As the face has different planes some areas of the face will be more exposed to the light at a given time. If the light is from above and the hair hangs over like this the whole face may be largely in shadow.
If light hits from an angle above but from the front the side planes of the face will be more in shadow. The form shadows are how we see the 3d shape of the thing we are painting in realism.
To do this we often need more than two values on the face. A good rule is to have at minimum a general light tone, a mid tone, and a shadow tone. You can get more complicated than that of course, but the general light tone is going to be what the skin looks like with its local color and value when exposed to light. The mid tone is a bit darker as the form starts to round and go into the shadow, and then the shadow is the area away from the light, which is the darkest.
A fourth value to add beyond those three is highlights, those areas where the light is most directly hitting that show a brighter light. This often happens where different planes converge.
So for future attempts try to think through what planes the light would hit, and what planes would be starting to turn from the light, and and plains are away from the light, and so in shadow. I like how you have some hints of form in the garment through the lighter areas.
If you are able to watch videos consider taking a look at this 10 minute video. He does a great job of explaining some of the basics of shadow and light, in a concise manner. In fact, his ten minute art lesson videos are good in general.

Glad you are working on realism, and thank you for asking for feedback!

@tall73 Yeah, lighting was my biggest problem. Usually, his turtleneck is very dark, and so I was confused where the lighting should've gone. I have seen the shadow and lighting video, it is from Proko is it not?
Thank you! You helped me recognize things thatI completely forgot about!!

This one is not from Proko, though that artist has gone on Proko's channel before.
And you are welcome, it was fun to give feedback!

I'll check the video out, then.
Yeah, it was fun accepting the feedback, as it was very polite and constructive! @tall73
