alright! It is fun to make the portrait in your style. but for the topic on the style of realism, we probably need to un-learn all our own style first! It is fun to make portraits, but the #rdcontest means we talk about serious portraits ;)
So lets say if we are painting realism, then we need to get some study material or find some tutorials and start with nothing and then follow some steps and then we practise. then separately from the study drawings you will paint pictures in your own style. I think you're very cool for practising but i'm thinking #rdcontest realistic portraits is not as easy as you make it look! :) what is your schools art trajectory lets talk about it
@madwurmz.com Thank you! :) To answer your question: I'm currently not in school anymore. I graduated from Highschool a long time ago. I've been trying to teach myself how to draw (on and off) for years (I'm self-taught). I know I still have a lot to learn, but I really hope to get better at drawing.
ooohw thats very interesting! ;) your abstract art is really amazing but realism is not that much fun, it is actually a long time of unsatisfying struggle , so I would understand you keep it fun :) are you on Discord? I could share some things to study ..
alright hmm interesting! then you probbly have the age to find study material yourself! constructing and painting a real portrait is very challenging so you need to be autonomous with self driven motivation :) Andrew loomis has great books about this topic. https://youtu.be/FnTbqPIkuX0
at some point it is hard to unlearn your own style but the study about realism is based on some fundamental ideas , like composition , proportions , color theory, that will help your own style too.. if you want to chat you could get on Discord, its free and without any commitment :P
