Though there various different breads, with different technical names, the name of the fruit itself as a whole, would be watermelon.

[スイカ・・Suika]ですね～♪[にし(の)うり]とかきます。

ちゅうごくからつたわりました。ちゅうごくごの、にしのうり(メロン)という[かんじ]とよみかたで[シーグァ→スイカ]となりました。えどじだいは[みずうり(ウォーターメロン)]といわれてました。えいごだw

にほんにむかしからあるメロンは、きいろくてちいさい[Makuwauri・まくわいり]です。
