Entries due - 20th of April -
Required subject matter: Paint still life (objects such as cup of coffee, glass of water, cats, etc. )
It is great practice for learning realistic painting.
we will give tips and critique and this is going to be brutal so do your best!

You can do multiple attempts!

The second contest for the Realism Discvussion group is going back to basics. Still life is a fun way to learn how light and shadows work. And it is easier to paint from life instead of a photo as there is always some interesing object laying around!

Also, that painting is top notch, and that with the lettering and the stars was fantastic in that amount of time.

Cats are not still life! Though they may sometimes sit still. Now someone could be half-way through their masterpiece cat painting and will have their dreams crushed! (Though if they do a masterpiece cat painting I am sure it will still get a lot of likes).

@mcollins9 Ordered was the initial thought but Madwurms thought it would be nice to eventually see 100's of paintings for the contest tag. And folks can see each contest announcement which divides them, so I suppose it still works fine.

So, is anyone able to join? I'm wanting to learn realism, but I don't have discord lol. Also, is there a deadline?

My idea may not be fully classified as a stilllife, but I need to practice realism, and I'll explain the reason when I post it lol

ok! you can use this to pracise , that can be from photo but traditionally it is from real life, it can be some insightful learning expierence! :) have fun

@razrdraws Well all stuffed cats were normal cats too! Until.....

Not that I have actually seen any stuffed cats. I did see a stuffed bear in a guys dining room next to his elk placesettings, around the corner from his display of all the large game animals you can get a license for in North America. save two he was waiting on. It was right in the entry way to his house! You enter through the door, and there are a bunch of heads. I was a bit surprised.

This is new to me, and i wish to try out on this contest. Browsing through webs, i understand more about still life, and learning to draw them, is a stair to next level of art. Thanks for organising this contest!
