also there are some beautiful photos from the early 19OO's to 5O's i would like to trace and make threedee but feel hindered because of the negative feedback from the so called "original artists" i dont normally trace but i'm not complaining about people who are interested in art because my art isnt getting enough stars or comments. tsk tsk

Tracers Rock! If they want to turn a pic into 3D let them! My gallery is not traced but i used a reference which is considered Partial Tracing but hey what can i say i Suck at Creating original ideas. My Best art a made up was my Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Dialga VS Meowth and Chikorita. Thats the one pic that i Totaly made up. :]

Haha this happens, i think the tracers are practicing to get the skill and later draw their own individual style, so i dont think its bad at all. But if you want to make something unique draw it yourself :D

I think some people are taking this too seriously... The tracers are productive and having fun, so this isn't tracer bashing.

You all missed the point.XD The point was that Non-tracers take their time thinking things out while Tracers just,well,trace. NOONE said anything about them being bad people because of it.

otacon, having fun with YOUR Colors APP is fine, if you want to trace, feel free. It's when you then CONSTANTLY FLOOD the gallery with your pointless and bland sub-standard rendition of SOMEONE ELSES artwork that earns you and all the other uninspired tracers the humiliation they rightly deserve. If you want to trace someone elses art go ahead, just KEEP IT TO YOURSELF and don't upload it simply to get "likes" for someone elses work. "Making it 3D" is a pathetically laughable excuse for it. "Hey look everyone, I put a funny clown hat on Michelangelo's statue of David, aren't I great! LOVE ME!"

Everyone has fun in different ways. As long as it is something they enjoy, whatever. :P I've traced a few times because 1. I just felt lazy. 2. It does help you get used to the small screen. So I'm not biased toward one end or the other.

ATTENTION: I thought this pic would be funny because, read from left to right, you see how the non-tracers are strugling and then the tracers are not. I thought both sides would get the joke. I mean, "How do I draw a dolphin?" I gave a dolphin gills like a shark the first time I tried drawing one (watch the playback of my early pics...it's terrible...XD). I just can't figure out why this is supposedly an anti-tracing pic. It's really not! Non-tracers have messy writing and spend hours trying to draw what never ends up how they pictured it, while tracers just pick something and start tracing. Nothing boggs them down, which is why they're more productive and happier. It can be miserable being a non-tracer, but I tried tracing and it was too difficult because I have trouble following lines. Please someone tell me how showing tracers trace is an insult to tracers? What am I missing here?

I used to trace but now i just try to draw whatever i think of even if it comes out terrible...because u never learn from tracing the only way to get better is by practicing drawing out of ur head or using a reference over nd over...like the art btw lol

Tracing is dumb, I've never done it. It's like copying somebody elses work, and if the work is copyrighted or trademarked, it's illegal to trace. Tracing is supwe frowned upon in the art community.

@kirbysamful this is the main problem, this _isn't_ an "art community", it's a bunch of juvenile morons using an app they consider to be a "game". 99% of the "artists" have already left.

@Naughty I'm aware this isn't an art community, I'm talking about the entire art community in general. If these dip nuts were on dA they would all be banned for stealing. I'm 14, so I suppose I'm juvenile, I only use this to draw, coming on the site makes me angry when I see all the copying.

Tracing is illegal, if people posted their crap on dA. They would get slapped with notices and their "art" getting taken down. Because nobody likes a thief.

stealing artwork is NOT what tracing is, stealing artwork is when someone claims it as their own, ex: i draw my O.C Phillip and you take the drawing and say that he's your O.C and you drew him, THAT'S art theft tracing is when you learn the techniques ex: I draw my O.C. Phillip and you take another paper, put it on top and observe the picture, then trace it, paying attention to how the picture is structured, that's tracing, I still have the original drawing and you have a copy that you drew, you can look at what you did and try to draw it free hand, you will eventually NOTE: if you trace someone's art style and say it's your art style, that's art theft not tracing, so tracing is ok, u guys really shuld be hating art theives NOT tracers, hey... are these ur O.Cs, i saw some of those ppl in other pictures too, like that guy with black hair, and that girl with red hair and the dude with blonde hair :D

@super*star: ok, so I take a strangers motorbike from their garage without asking them and I drive it straight to a police station and say: "I just took this but it's NOT theft because I just wanted to try it out and learn to ride and I've told you whos bike it is so it's not theft. right?" wrong dumbass, enjoy prison or community service. TRACING = STEALING. Crediting the original artist doesn't make it ok, admitting a crime doesn't make it any less of a crime. If you're tracing your _own_ art then I guess you're not a thief, just incompetent. If you want to trace/steal for personal pleasure or "experience" then fine, but don't then UPLOAD it as an exhibit in an ART GALLERY.

I've said this before and I'ss say it again. Tracing is fine WHEN YOU'RE LEARNING, bit you'll never become a great artist without drawing for yourself. Also, it's sometimes offensive to the original artist to trace something without permission or without giving credit where due. In short, I agree with you. hey, i trace stuff, but i only trace like pokemon cards or stuff i drew in my notebooks!

i only trace my things or drawing that are really hard to draw on 3ds.

why would tracing be wrong. just because someone else made it first does not give anybody all exclusive right to the picture. also if some went to the trouble of tracing something for 100 hours and were proud of there trace just to be told that they terrible for tracing someone elses work is horribly rude
