I actually start out with a basic design, then I play around with it on here with a lot of the different tools (like the select tool). To be honest: Sometimes I don't even know. I often end up shocking myself. I often just let my imagination run wild, and a design seems to just jump out at me. Then I add more details until I feel it is good enough. I'm sorry that I'm not sure how to explain it better.
