I'm a big fan of your artwork too btw. :)

@Hailsss thank you so much!! We appreciate it a lot. I love your art style very much and we will love any help or tips. Take your time thanks again!!

@BiniBean @Artist_Cece Alrighty, sorry i took so long to get to my response! I hope i can help you guys out, even a little. :)
But i guess the first thing i want to make clear is that im not professional in any way. So take my advice with a grain of salt i suppose! I'll just tell you guys some stuff that i found helpful.
20 Sep, 2022, 3:14 am
You mentioned you were looking for tips when drawing people, you also mentioned different art styles and coloring i believe, so I'll try to focus on those atm. :>
Anyways, I'll get right into it!
Im assuming it must be difficult to go from pony anatomy to humans. I think its always a good idea to use a reference when you can. (I know, not crazy advice there xD ).
But not just that, gesture drawings/line of action sketches are also really helpful. You may have heard of them already.
20 Sep, 2022, 3:20 am
Gesture drawings are basically where you look at a pose and take about 60 seconds to capture it as best as you can. No details, just the gist.
Doing that has definitely helped me out! Might be worth a shot? :P
Then theres facial structure as well.. Im not sure how to explain that exactly, since there are so many styles that stretch proportions unrealisticly.
I think its a good idea to study realism here and there. Its easier to make stylised artwork one you have a good grasp on how it looks irl
20 Sep, 2022, 3:29 am
When i draw in a different style, really all im doing is tweaking minor parts of the art style. Of course going from realism to a cartoony style is a large jump.
But i guess what i mean is you can think of changing things such as:
★ Lineart, you could use thin lines, thick lines, different colors, or no lineart at all.
★Color pallet, Lots of options there! Pinterest has a lot of pallet ideas if you're stumped.
★The way you draw eyes, etc. Just changing something as small as the eyes can-
20 Sep, 2022, 3:38 am
really change the look.
★Proportions, if you're going for something really out there, really anything could work i suppose. For less realistic styles i take inspiration from cartoons like adventure time. Realism is a good place to start though.. ;)
Overall, if you find an artist you really like, try to incorporate the the way they do things into your own artwork. Mashing styles makes new ones! :D
20 Sep, 2022, 3:45 am
Okiii, you also mentioned coloring.
BiniBean, i feel like you have a pretty good grasp on subject already? ;)
I'll try to explain a few things i always do when coloring. But i doubt it will make much sense xD.
I know there's a really good tutorial on youtube for color theory btw! Very helpful. (i forgot the channel name ughhgh)..
Like most people i start with the base colors. When shading it tends to look better when you move the color wheel thingy to the right before making the color darker-
20 Sep, 2022, 3:50 am
for shading.
Then there's rim lighting, and so much other cool stuff. :0
Idk how much i can explain here, so if i were you I'd bum around on YT for color theory vids.. :/
But if there's something specific you're wondering, like how i painted something in my gallery or just whatever, I'd be happy to try and explain it..!
Sorry I wrote a book! lol. I hope it helps.
And no pressure trying to implement anything i mentioned. Just have fun with it :)
20 Sep, 2022, 3:57 am
@Hailsss
Thank you very much for the advice :) I have a good grasp on the basic coloring but I want the shading to be more realistic, I have watched the playback for several realistic and semi realistic pics and in planning it seems easier but trying to actually attempt it never works out for me, I am never satisfied with the result even a little.
20 Sep, 2022, 4:32 am
@BiniBean i hear ya, Im not happy with lots of paintings i do. I only post the good ones.. :')
I'll try and think of any other useful tips for coloring.. But i think i struggle with explaining it Dx
One other tip i thought of, is flipping the canvas horizontaly while sketching. Helps notice wonky stuff :P
20 Sep, 2022, 6:00 am
@Hailsss Thank you for the advice we appreciate it!! If you can do a drawing too it'll be helpful as well.
