Hiro, the main protagonist of the story, is a high school student that dreams of doing something much more. He's going to get that wish unintentionally from fate when he first encountered a shadow pokemon at his school terrorizing his friends and peers. That fate is not only just on the destiny on Hiro, but on the destiny of his friends as well.
He's on the mission, along with Toru, Sophie, Ayane, Eric, Akira and their human friends, to save their region from the evil corporation, the disasters that they may cause and save the innocent pokemon from becoming shadow pokemon. He got a lot of stuff that he has to handle.
