Who are they to decide for me how I should be taking it as a hobby? Art, creating, drawing is my passion. How can they not see how much it means to me? How much it helps me? What it means to me means nothing to them because its not helpful. Its not practical. Not useful. Doesn't support anyone. Doesn't bring in money.

I want to cry. I'm angry. I'm sad. I'm hurt. I'm tired. I'm stressed.. This all sucks...If I'm not doing anything in this house I'm just being a waste of space.

Personally I know a ton of people who make a living off art. And that's not to mention all the emotional benefits it has. Anyone that argues that art is a waste of time has no idea what they're talking about - that's like saying reading is a waste of time lol

Whomever told you your hobby has to rack up money is sadly mistaken. That is YOUR decision and YOUR time that you spend with honing your talent. Work is work; whatever work you put out there is a lot like putting yourself out there and not a lot of people see that, sadly. Go with your gut, see where it takes you. Whether it be art or some high profession, always look for ways to learn and improve. You got this!

I don't know if I've said anything that contributed to your feelings. In my case at least, art is a hobby. I'm passionate about it, and I love to see what others are able to make of their talents. However, I am aware cases vary with individuals. If drawing and art be a vitality of your life, I hope it can be revitalized. It's amazing what people can do with their hands.

Lastly, keep your chin up. Don't let other's thoughts and opinions get the best of you. I know those phrases are a bit over used, but they're meaningful, powerful, and can really raise downtrodden spirits.
I hope you can appreciate my honesty. I'm trying to word this with the uttmost respect for your feelings.

Re- I agree, that's a bit strange. It may be because art isn't normalized much like other arts, such as drama and literature. And it may be due to people not being able to see the same vision as you, because you know your craft and can set the goal/vision for yourself. I wanted to be in the art field as well, but due to personal reasons I had to give it up. Whatever you can see yourself doing, try it. You may just surprise yourself. Family members or just people can give insight, but sometimes their way of thinking isn't always the 'right' answer. Everybody is trying to find a way that fits for them yk? Some ideas work more for some people and others may not as much. And I'm sure you may find satisfaction, and maybe even a bit of disappointment, but those are the things you can learn from. If art is something you want, aim for the little, strategic steps in life before running all the way to the top of the mountain! I hope I'm making sense, I'm bad at writing what I'm thinking grr.
