I don't know of you've ever played Monster Hunter Stories, but by the end of it, my A-team included a Silver Rathalos that was augmented with Deviljho breath, and Stygian Zinogre dracobugs, as well as some other dragon element genes. His spikes, and the dark stripes along the back plates had a fierce dark red color instead of black. It looked awesome.
I hope they keep the gene system in MH Stories 2. I had a lot of fun mixing and matching different elements to my monsters.
