Question by MacWolfrie

FOR ANYONE WHO HAS DONE A SYSTEM TRANSFER: I need your help.

I am trying to do a system transfer from my old 3DS to my new one, as the buttons have completely stopped working.
However, when attempting to complete the transfer, it says that my photos will be deleted as well as any downloadable content that is no longer available on the eShop.
Is this true? I have important photos, games, and drawings on this system and would prefer to keep them. TIA.

Alright, I've done it twice before, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!
-
The first time was frm a 3DS to the New 3DS, which worked perfectly. Everything was traded over correctly, including my pictures. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE TRANSFER app thing from the eshop for both systems, and it should work smoothly.
-
Here's another example: I had to do it agin for my New 3DS and to a New 2DS (these are different from the normal ones!) When I tried on for these systems; it erased all of my game data on the SD card, and some of my pictures.

I did a transfer from a 3ds to my new 2ds, and nothing was lost. Pictures, games, drawings, everything. Good luck! :)

Now, if you're going from one "New" system to another. I suggest backing up your pictures, and carefully choosing how much will be transfered over.
The systems will ask you what exactly do you want to move over, and choosing everything will ensure it'll get most of your data across.
-
This also puts everything at risk, too. So when the transfer finishes, do NOT erase the data from the old system: when I did the transfer; my pictures were leftover in the sd card. (I can turn it on right now and still see them!) Your Nintendo ID (qnd games) are the only thing that's rest assured affected, stuff like miis and pictures ect.. are left up your descretion. To be sure everything survives: check the system you're "moving into" and see if everything transfered before disregarding your older system.

Now I'm only speaking from my experience, go online if you want a official and/or professional explanation. (There's actually 3 ways to transfer)
Transfer from a 3DS to a NEW 3DS goes well, but from one NEW system to another, might be rough. Be cautious, no matter what others say; check the data before and after you done the transfer! Don't assume everything simply went over well...

@ganondarf - We can, if you'd like. Let me know which drawing you'd like me to do. You can choose any of mine. Keep in mind, though, that the older drawings will not be used as much. :)

@Cleric - Thank you! That's great to hear, as I'm going to be transfering from an original to a "new" 3DS. I'll download the application from the eShop.

@Silvermoon- - Thank you! That's great news. I was a bit worried that everything would be deleted, and that's no good.

How did the transfer go, btw? I hope everything is still there! :)

@Silvermoon- and @Cleric, everything went well. Thank you both! I still have everything that I wanted to save.

I did a system transfer, from a 3DSxl to another 3DSxl and everything was still there, and my sister did one from her 2DS to her New2DSxl and everything was there.

Great, I'm SO glad! I'd hate if what happened to me, happened to almost anybody else!
