Stara lost her home planet, her friends-- her entire dimension. With the help of Purnama, she managed to get to a mirror dimension. This mirror resembles her home so much, it constantly reminds her it's gone. So she gets overwhelmed and flips out
Explaination of the scene:
-Stara is Molly in HER dimension, and to see another 'her' having nothing taken away from her is what causes her hatred and jealously towards Molly. This is her main reason on losing it. She's trying to attack Molly here.
-Although Molly didn't any harm to Stara, but be unconditionally caring and patient, it pains Molly to know her mere existence and life causes Stara to suffer.
Explaination of power and Purnama's reaction:
Stara is pure light but can also switch to "dark mode" (An old power Stara had from 2009). She essentially becomes 'pure darkness' for a bit. This activates when she's emotionally overwhelmed w/ negative emotions or as a defense mechanism.
Purnama bends and utilizes darkness.
This puts purnama in a tough spot at this moment--Purnama either absorb Stara while in dark mode or let Stara explode, which is equivalent to if the sun exploded on earth (not good).
Purnama doesn't want to lose her friend, let alone k!ll her.
