I've been reading (the original) Dracula from Bram Stroker, 1897. It's really interesting.
I didn't get that far in, but I go an idea for my vampire character Danny. I then found the quote after.
BackStory:
The woman at the bottom is Danny's lover, Subira
The village discovered Danny was a vampire and came to k!ll him (with pitch forks, stakes, and all that jazz).
To save his life, she uses necromancy to cast a spell on the dead, calling them to fight the living villagers. The two flee, but Subira often berates him for ruining her life.
