The substance produced by the string when they are sick is also quite thick and weighted to pull the head down to the ground in case it starts to drift too far from the body. Though this kind of sick is an extreme they can tell the signs of sickness by a more sluggish body or heavier string. Some while sick will hole up in a safe spot away from the elements and other creatures. If sick enough that the head slips free it will often drift downwards like a slowly deflating balloon. Often times the string will seem like its alive as it acts as the heads natural weight system and defense from anything that may wonder too close. They are extremely vulnerable in this state. A balloon head on the verge of death would often be found without its body and tumbling along the ground like a lost balloon. Their head will deflate until they return to their previous balloon state all stretched out and worn. On death their original body would have shrunken up turning into a hard leather skin cast of their prior selves that would crumble or sink into nothingness. Though one having a second body they had taken from another animal would decay as normal leaving behind a headless corpse.
