Eris the Artist by Cleric
As mentioned: the protagonist caught the attention of 2 people. 1 is Eris. She asks him to escort her to a less violent bunker, & they sneak out. It WAS peaceful, until someone with the virus appeared, and was killed. Then it's announced the government would chip survivors with "cures".. Causing the 2 to move out to vacant malls. Believing they'd die alone, the 2 become lovers.. Then they learn she had it--& has infected the protagonist! Then it gets worse..

I REALLY wish th descriptions space weren't so freaking short: it look like a 5 year old wrote that....
Um, yeah... I wanted to at least say the parts she was in, but I fear this won't even cover a summary, so I'll just tell anyone reading the making part:
I intended for her to have her own story too, had the book done well.. but... Amazon's really strict...
