It has been a very long time since I've worked in a manga/anime style but I was asked by catsRawesomesauce and Snoopy101 to make a tutorial soI did my best to remember and gave it a shot! It's a bit phoned in I'm sorry to say. This is pretty much just anatomy of the face and style as I didn't want to make this too big and it's been years since I attempted an anime/manga style. Hope it's helpful! #tutorial #manga #anime #freckletutorial
The Colors! Gallery moderators will look at it as soon as possible.

I appreciate this tutorial and I found it very helpful. One part thar I liked in particular is how you said it's important to understand actual human proportions, and how the general anime style warps them into something more simplistic. A lot of the artists I've met who had anime influences never understood that, and their drawings would often show as looking too simplistic, or some strange mix of cartoony realism. I also appreciate how you showed every little step you took in your drawings, what with the underdrawings and the fine-tuning. This place would have a lot of better artists if people would understand that what goes into a drawing is just as, if not more important than the final product itself. And at the risk of droning on for too long, I'd like to just say great job on this and I hope many more people get to see it!

Yay! Thank you so much! I will add to this and say that sometimes they also use eccentric hair styles and colors, like in the picture. Again, thank you.

*Sigh* All the americans left for the manga fad..True americans stick with OUR comics. Marvel, DC, Image...Why have people abandoned REAL comics for this..? What do you see in Manga? The characters are skinny, and use wierd powers from a dead person. Captain America? Superman? They are brawny and beast. Now all the kids today want purple highlights, and skinny bodys..

Very nice!

Really Zadros? Really? You can keep your narrow-minded ideals of 'real Americans' I'll keep my adoration for comic in ALL their forms. Unlike mainstream American comics, manga hit all genera types making them more acessable and relatable to a wide majority of people. People that feel the need to whine about the popularity of Japanese comics are a big part of why we still have almost no strong, relatable portrayals of women and minorities in super hero comics. It is a narrow-minded, elitist view that only hinders the expansion and improval of American superhero comics as a whole.

I agreed with everything up to narrow minded/elitist bit about rac.ism and minorities. You made it sound like Japan doesn't do it and it's only American exclusive. Asian products can run into the VERY se.xist and rac.ist spectrum. I emphasize this as someone from there who dislikes idolizing anything without admitting flaws. I don't think that's what you meant but I just kind of wanted to throw my two cents on that out there. Want to keep it fair for both parties :/ On topic I love your tutorials and find you informative in a fun and friendly way :)

Oh! I didn't mean it like that at all, haha. I know that manga has tons of the same flaws after all as well as many that are purely its own. I only meant that the idea of one country's comics being the only ones that 'real' people of that country should read/the only ones 'worth' reading is a huge detriment and very elitist thinking (and that goes both ways, I've met too many who act like manga is the only thing worth reading and that other countries make nothing good). I think being more open minded about comics in general is the only way to push them to new heights. Thank you for pointing that out to me so I could rephrase myself, I wrote that in too much of a hurry and should have re-read it before posting. Anyway! I'm happy to hear you like what I've been doing ^^

Ah! Okay, sorry about that but thank you for clearing up your meaning! I have met or heard too many people argue things and neglect to mention what they support has flaws, perhaps the same they dislike. I have the belief every flaw and good point should be available so someone can read and make their own opinions. Regardless, I'm too preachy and off topic on your art. And you're welcome, even if art isn't your fulltime job I know it takes a lot of work to make every piece and even more to explain and teach processes and I know, I, and many others are so appreciative you taking time to make such things for others' benefits. :) Keep being awesome!

Actually, I really appreciate your view point andcompletely agree that all the info should be given, even if it's negative, in discussions. I think it's vital for people to make informed decisions. Also, art IS my full time job^^ I'm a freelance illustrator. I really enjoy trying to help others, especially art related.

I think that is awesome you have a fulltime job in art! I have only done a few graphic designs and other such work for a resturant before (actually have gotten more work in carpentry and some bulding designs elsewhere though :/), hoping to be like you one day though!
