In the Light of the Moon by SpiralingUpward

Xander looked at the moon, his moon, and marveled at how exactly big it was. He had never stood so close to his domain, his area he was sworn to protect. Yes he had stood ON it, but that wasn't the same as standing next to it. The small steps seemed to hover above the water, and the moon, to his surprise, had no reflection on the black inky water.
"Is this what you wish? To release yourself of your duties? To lose all of your powers, forever?" The voice emphasized on that last part heavily. Xander had been hungry for his power, to grow stronger... But the thing was, he didn't want it anymore. After seeing what can happen to people, especially what happened to Rufio, the way his own creatures turned on him, ending his life in a matter of seconds. Xander no longer wanted his power, it meant nothing to him.
"I'm sure." Xander replied, head held high.
"This will destroy you. You will cease to exist... Never to be reborn." The voice was attempting to thwart him.
"Do it." He growled, teeth clenched. There was a flash of bright light and blinding pain.

After that, there was silence, except for the quiet splashing of the waves. And somewhere, deep down every star and soul, every living being, could hear the sound of the moon, crying out in anguish.

My entry for #wc370 x) The theme really spoke to me, so I included a snippet of a story I've been writing slowly... #SUXander #LoreMunchies
Enjoy!

Ohhhh, this is so epic. I love the story - sounds like a tragic but epic climax to his story. Nicely done! X)
