i shall explain morpho knight
basically, morpho knight was formed when a magic, red n yellow butterfly landed on galacta knight, proceeded to abSORB HIM, and then transformed into morpho knight
so, morpho's true identity is a little red n yellow butterfly, which can actually be seen visible in cutscenes of lotsa older games
and, a fun fact, morpho's knight design was taken from an old beta design that meta knight had!!

also apparently morpho knight has some vague relation to the underworld and may be the grim reaper but shhhh lets not open that can of worms

then, gooey is a lil blob of dark matter who you seem to release all the way back in kirby's dreamland 2, where dark matter first shoes up.. gooey was just trapped in a bag, and you set him free and dont see him again until dreamland 3, where dark matter returns again and gooey becomes good friends with kirby
gooey functions as the second character for two player mode in dreamland 3, and can also just be summoned to wander around with you in single player
contrary to most dark matter being notably aggressive and evil, gooey is just,,,, gooey. a lil friendly boi who seems to have kirby's copy abilities to an extent
gooey then kinda just disappeared for a long time until kirby star allies (where morpho shows up), becoming playable as a dream friend
gooey doesnt rlly have much on him in terms of proper background and lore, but he doesnt rlly need it because he a goofy lil good boi :clap:

dark matter is basically some kinda bitter species that, while not quite confirmed, it doesnt necessarily seem able to feel positive emotions, so that's when its species attacks pop star and neighboring planets in whats kinda like the dark matter trilogy of the games (kirby's dreamland two, dreamland three, and kirby 64: the crystal shards)
in dreamland two, the only case of dark matter was the dark matter swordsman, who broke the rainbow bridges between some islands and possessed dedede, basically trying to take control
kirby and some of his animal friends (rick, kine, & coo) went around and rebuilt the rainbow bridges, as well as gathering that energy into the rainbow sword, which kirby used to fight the dark matter swordsman up in the sky and yeet him outta existence
an instruction booklet or smth like that states that DMS attacked dreamland [cont.]

outta jealousy and loneliness,,,,, which is sad
after that, ya have kirby's dreamland three, kirby is friends with gooey, and a buncha other animal friends (rick, kine, coo, chuchu, nago, pitch) in that game.. an ominous black shadow with a red eye (zero) suddenly attacked dreamland outta nowhere, spreading its influence across the entirety of planet popstar and possessing some of the stronger people in each area of popstar, requiring you to gather the friendship and trust of many little side characters (completing a task in a level) and then using their friendship to create,,,,, the love love stick. it's gloriously named lmao
you then have to fight a possessed dedede /again/ at the end of the game, and once you free him from the dark matter, you head into the sky once more and fight a generic dark matter
buuut, once you beat that fella, zero shows up, and defeating him beats the game n frees the land of dark matter,, again

after that, the events of kirby 64 occurred-dark matter apparently resides at shiver star (basicallyfrozenoverearth) according to the instruction manual of the game, tho there's no sign of that when ya actually play,,,, either way, tho, the target was a heart shaped place called ripple star rather than popstar this time, it's a place occupied by fairies and ruled by a fairy queen. dark matter goes after a shining crystal that seems to be the source of ripple star's energy, and takes over the planet--the queen orders ribbon, a friend/servant(?) of hers, to take the crystal outta there to keep it safe, and ribbon does!! exceeeepr she's chased after by a trio of dark matter and the crystal gets broken, scattering its pieces on a variety of planets and hurtling ribbon down to popstar
she meets kirby and they team up to get the shards back, along the way befriending a waddle dee, a painter girl named adeleine, and king dedede, after freeing each of them from dark matter

after that, they all basically go to each planet, collecting as many of the shards as possible, and eventually they head to ripple star to fight off what is thought to be the source of the dark matter, a many eyes dice lookin fella named miracle matter.. once it's beaten, however, you find that ripple star's queen was actually possessed by the true source of dark matter (assuming you have all the shards, if you dont you get a bad ending)
once ya use the crystal to YEET the dark matter outta her, ya gotta chase after it into a place called dark star, and that's when ya fight zero-two
the fandom is divided on whether zero n zero-two are the same being or not--they look quite similar, naming makes sense and implies zero-two is a reincarnation, and plus there wasnt anything else that seemed to be dark matter that led them
buuuuut, at the same time, sakurai said somewhere once that zero and zero-two arent the same, which probs contributed to such confusion

personally i like to think of them as the same, but ir doesnt matter TOO much in the grand scheme of things since zero would be dead anyway
either way, ya beat up zero-two and beat the game, chasing dark matter away once more, and after that ya dont see dark matter much except for some instances that people like to try n tie to dark matter
i probably wont have all of em here on the top of my head, but:
- dark nebula in kirby squeak squad. most likely to be actual dark matter, referred to as "dark zero" in japan and possesses #daroach
- dark mind in kirby and the amazing mirror. seems like the dark matter of the mirror world, possibly mirror world zero? seems to possess mirror world nightmare, also possesses (mirror world?) dedede in team/super kirby clash
- dark crafter in kirby and the rainbow curse (i think). dark is in the name, its smth possessing #claycia i think, but it's hard to tell
- magolor soul in return to dreamland. only rlly has an eye i its mouth, [cont.]

so i dont personally think it's dark matter, especially since it's #magolor being possessed by the master crown, something from halcandra im pretty sure
- void termina/void soul. almost IOO percent definitely dark matter since it turns into one/mimics one while you fight it (whichmightmakekirbydarkmatterduetoitmimicingkirbybutohboythatsanothercanofworms)
