More Unfeeling lore as I try to figure these things out, including some of their history.
Most of this is a WIP and subject to change, so take it with a grain of salt.

The Unfeeling (also known as Void Dragons, Voidspawn, and various other names) are a species of strange dragon-like creatures, not from this world.
They originated from a realm that can only be accessed through a special type of portal. Not much is known about this realm, and those who go there to explore rarely come back. It resembles a nightmarish landscape, perpetually dark and windy, and the terrain is mostly either jagged black mountains or vast, empty deserts. (Name pending, we'll call it Beyond for now.)
Void Dragons didn't originally have their emotion-sensing ability or colourful markings. They were just black creatures. However, at some point in history, an unidentified person opened a portal to Beyond and captured several Void Dragons, subduing and dragging them away in the dead of night.

In one small region of the world, a bloodthirsty sport had recently become popular. It was basically gladatorial combat in which two fighters were pitted against each other (usually unwillingly) in an arena for the sake of entertainment. These fights were sometimes between humans, but more often, they involved werewolves, griffins, or small dragons as well. The more exciting the battle, the more spectators would be willing to watch.
One arena decided to go the extra mile... and began to pit fighters against hungry captive Void Dragons. It was a massive success, and nearly every subsequent fight in that particular arena featured 'Voidspawn' (as they were known at the time).

Months later, a competing arena captured several more Voidspawn and started doing the same thing. However, they couldn't achieve the same popularity. One sorcerer came up with an idea to make the Voidspawn battles more exciting. He cast a spell over the creatures, magically modifying them with the ability to sense their opponents' emotions and display them via brightly-coloured markings on their bodies.
The spectators liked this; not only did they get to watch bloody sports, but they could also see exactly what the fighters pitted against the Voidspawn were feeling the entire time! It added a new element of excitement to the sport, and pretty soon, the second arena overtook the first in popularity.
Eventually, arena fighting was outlawed, the arenas were torn down, and the most of the remaining Voidspawn were disposed of. However, several of them managed to escape and quickly vanished into the wilderness. They spread across the world, hunting and killing. They lived mostly underground, or in deep forests, eating whatever they could catch. If you encountered one, chances are you wouldn't live to tell the tale...

Nowadays, Voidspawn are little-known, and there are few official records/info on them. They exist in only a few parts of the world, usually surviving on the fringes of civilisation, far away from major cities. In countries where they have never been seen, people generally just don't know they exist. Many consider them more of a legend than a real thing - a monster to speak of in stories around the campfire.
They are most numerous in The Wildlands, a mountain region in the northeast of Apollo (my world's tentative name). In western countries like Vallis and Aether, they are far less known, but a few have been sighted in the wilderness throughout history. They generally keep to themselves, living underground and eating small game, which is one of the reasons people don't see them often. If they start appearing in the open in large groups, it might be a sign that someone, or something, is influencing their behaviour.

Random notes:
- The things on their heads aren't ears. They're bony protrusions, used to protect their skulls, ram opponents, and sometimes to help with digging.
- Their 'wings' aren't really wings at all, but appendages that serve a variety of purposes. Including swimming, shielding the body, and attacking.
- They have their own venom, which can be injected either through their fangs or tail barbs. It's relatively mild - able to kill small animals, but mostly just causes disorientation, nausea, and slowing of the healing process.
- They can make... really loud screeching sounds. It's not nice to listen to.
- They presumably reproduce, but nobody's sure whether they do it the traditional way or not.
(Done, I think)
