Barnabas is a particular type of ghoul called a fear feeder. Essentially, these types of ghouls feed off the fear of others, and have a strange, innate power to know what someone is afraid of. It will parrot the fears of the individuals to them. He has been known to mimic voices, but only if he’s heard them before.
