outskirts of civilisation by Crowley the Dragon

I try to avoid posting the same character twice in a row, but I doodled this last night and liked how the background came out. XD

(I also went on an OC ramble in the comments.)

Something I've always found interesting in characters is how some of them are basically completely different people when they're kids, while others don't seem to have changed much at all. Usually, I see that aspects of their personalities change, but certain things always stay the same, and that's cool to see.

Years of writing made me realise that Armin always had a wild, impulsive streak to him. As a kid, this translated into spending most of his time galloping around the village on horseback and hitting people with toy swords. As an adult, it mostly translates to making poor decisions that often result in him (or someone else) getting hurt. He has a tendency to leap into situations without stopping to consider the consequences (which causes people to think he's a lot stupider than he really is).

(TBC...)

Though he's obviously developed more self-control in adulthood, he's always been more of an impulsive character than a cautious one. He might've mellowed out slightly, but the wild side is still there. He just doesn't spend his free time hitting people and causing property damage anymore. XD

Those kinds of characters are a lot of fun for me to write, hence why I have a lot of them! (Crowley, Ivy, Loch and Wendigo, to name a few.)

If anyone reads this, I'd love to hear about what some of your characters were like as kids. Of course you don't have to, it's just for fun if you feel like it!

Hmm, y’know, I’ve never given that much thought. I would imagine characters like Ardens and Jerry were likely very studious youths, given their occupations now. Perhaps I will explore this further.

ive thought about what several of my chars were like as kids, i generally look at it like "them before they learnt to tone themselves down or be more outgoing"

some like raph didnt get to be kids much, raph missed out on stuff cause of his low magic plus being shy/withdrawn plus getting saddled with babysitting duties (ive mentioned it a time or two but those are prolly buried so: raph is the eldest of 8... ah, pureblood family culture lol)
