Some tragic history for ya
There was a monostery that trained monks called sohei who were allied with the Azai and Asakura clans in Enryakuji Temple. Knowing that these clans were against Oda Nobumaga's samurai rule and that the sohei were highly skilled formidable fighters Nobunaga had all of Enryaku-ji's residence slaughtered in 1571 to prevent them from rising against him. Also there is an eggplant face looking yurei that haunts Enryaku-ji Temple named Nasu Baba
