The ground shifted under his feet and he staggered forward, raising an arm to block the blinding light. He managed to blink hard against the light, catching a glimpse of a bright golden vortex swirling between a pair of fallen trees. His hazel eyes focused on it for a moment before it trembled and fizzled out, leaving an empty hole between the trees.
All he could do was stand there and stare in shock. His head pounded, and his throat felt hoarse. The air in his lungs barely seemed enough as he breathed heavily, slowly lowering his arm.
It was gone.
Whatever it was, it vanished, and left him here in... well, he didn't know where.
He turned around, facing a small forest. Sunlight filtered through the scattered branches gave it a lovely glow, as birds chirped to welcome him. His eyes flicked around, scanning over the tree trunks, the layer of leaves and mulch on the ground and little sprigs of grass that have worked their way to the surface. A single deep breath to try to calm down brought him not only the woodsy smell, but a whiff of a salty sea breeze. His breathing began to slow as he turned around once more, the sound of crashing waves on a distant shore greeting his ears...
He sighed, embracing the fact he was lost.

The sound of a car rushing down a road cut through the forest, interrupting the peace of the moment. The brunette boy's head cut towards the sound, and without a second thought, he bolted for it, desperately wishing for some form of help. His workboots crushed leaves and twigs as he rushed down a small hill and right up to a treeline by a small two-lane road. Outside of the forest, he was greeted with a little row of bushes right across the road, a small park filled with young children, and huge skyscrapers in the distance. The sight was slightly intimidating, as he couldn't recall really being around a city of this size.
... Actually come to think of it, he couldn't recall much of anything. He knew he wasn't supposed to be here, but then where did he come from? Panic began to set in again as he ran his hand through his hair. He needed help, NOW.
He started to cross the road, but a motorcycle zoomed past inches from his face, sending hims staggering back a few steps and reminding him to check again. After doing so, he hurried across the road, through the neatly trimmed bushes and towards the park. The sidewalks were neatly swept, the grass a lovely lush green as he passed a few children playing on the playground equipment. There were benches around, so he made his way semi-calmly to one and sat down to think.
Not much was left. He didn't know where he came from. He didn't recall anything before the bright light - at least not much of anything.
What he did remember though, was his name.
He took in a deep breath, appreciating that he had at least somewhat of a start, so he tried again.

His name was Ryan Maier, and he was 20 years old as of just a few days ago. The jacket he wore - torn and stained, yet still somehow good - had a strange smell to it he couldn't quite place.
He lifted his head from his hands to stare at the sidewalk, attempting to calm himself down more. Panic never gets anyone anywhere, so it's better to approach things like this with rational thought. His head hurt before, did he hit it?
"Oh... excuse me, um... sir?"
A soft young voice had piped up, breaking him away from his thoughts, and he looked up to the source of it.
