i had the same acnl town since i first got the game in 2OI3 (i was in first grade when i got it, dude) and i named it marigold btw
and all of a sudden, recently my copy decided to be a big fat meanie buttface and cRASH EVERY GODD,AMN TIME I TRY TO GO INTO ABLE SISTERS
so i tried to google it because this is a problem that has persisted for the past few months and i couldn't find anything helpful, so i came to the difficult conclusion that if i want this problem to go away, i should at least

...try to see if re-creating my town would help
so.
i sold my town and made a new one. i finished doing all the bullsh,it isabelle makes you do at the start of the game when you become a mayor
and i go to main street and see if it was fixed
and i get into the able sisters...
and boom
it crashed

that was 6 years of gameplay gone down the drain

i sold my first town too and then i got all this moola, but my dumb asz desided to delete it AGAIN 1O y/o me thinkin i can sell my town for twice as much money adding up to the money i got (idek y i thought that) to late, i sold my town, didnt get any money b/c my town was fresh. :,) Got depression and temporarily gave my acnl game to my older sister, till i desided to resume. smh :,)
But i'm cool now.

ehh i wouldnt say youre an idiot in this case.
it's not stupid to assume something janked with a particular thing in a save file and that restarting will (or /should/ ) fix it.
it really sucks youve ran into this problem and have lost something irreplacable cause of it, since it's still happening i guess something's screwed up with your NL cartridge... i would say "try cleaning it really good" cause im one of those that was like "I NEED TO BLOW ON UT THAT WILL FIX IT" when cartridge games (mainly N64 games) got janky lol
good luck though i hope this is something you can fix. if not... maybe you could find a cheap replacement NL? it's an older game plus an AC is coming for the switch sometime so the price of it shouldnt be painful.
