The cafeteria is closed, but you are allowed to enter for a short update before heading out to meet Ross Flanders.
Halo and Salamander relate their respective stories; they were part of Ross Flanders' original team that ended the great Firelock Wars, under the names of Mariva and Six. The other members of the team were Alexa, Shaun, Lefty, and the missing Scar Face.
The lot of you pile into Lefty's truck for the long ride to Ross' humble dwellingplace, a rusty motor home sitting on the site of a large garbage dump. According to Lefty, this is the place of Flanders' occupation, and has been his home since the Firelock restorations were abandoned.
Somewhat brightened by the visit from his old friends, Ross eventually shares a long and detailed description of the individuals involved in the prior wars, including the location of the old bunker that served as the revolutionaries' base.
Ross rejoins the group, and the six of you gear up and head to Sector 18, two heads per vehicle. Lefty dons Woody's bio suit and pairs with Ross, Halo teams with Salamander, and you buddy with Shaun to make an end of this new threat.
This time, the Smashmen are more aggressive; but with good communication on the truckers' radios, you manage to outsmart and destroy a significant number of them.
When the heavier artillery rolls in, your group feigns a surrender, and you are all taken to the same old revolutionaries' headquarters, where you break away from arrest and use Ross' knowledge to send out an emergency signal.
As with the "Initiate" signal, it doesn't take long for the truckers to catch on to your invasion on the enemy's base, and a great number of county and state police soon arrive to end this latest uprising.
After a short but glorious battle, the remaining revolutionaries are hauled off to court, where they will be tried according to law.
At last, the final phase of the truckers' collective efforts has been reached. The government you have long helped to re-establish has become strong enough to defend itself; the community has faith in the system, as it was before the great wars.
This is a very, very rough version of the grand and glorious finale I planned, but life is too short to spend on this stuff. Funny how it is, I wrote the story and now I seem to be living it, being somewhat of a "hero" and a "trucker" myself - in small ways, every day.
It's a hero's work to give his time to others. I'll leave the writing to the writers.
Thank you once again for your input, particularly Timbrwulf - without you, this story would have had no purpose or direction. You definitely made it worthwhile, too, providing some great and wild Boomerang content that really brought his character to life.
For staying with me to the end, I'll give you this, though....
"Good morning, Boomerang."
You hear a familiar voice and feel a kiss on the cheek. Opening your eyes, you see Cat. Her hair is gray and faded, and many years of life experience show in her face.
"I made pan cakes for breakfast." She gives you a smile, as in your days of youth.
You crawl out of bed and slowly make your way to the bathroom. Your joints are stiff, and the onset of arthritis has made itself painfully apparent.
As you wash your face, you notice yourself in the mirror. Your hair is gray. Your face is wrinkled. You are an old man.
Your back and shoulders pop loudly as you straighten up to dry your hands; you smile a bit, in fond memory of the great things that led to your current state.
As you enter the kitchen, a young child runs to meet you, with a single happy shout: "Grandpa!"
Boomerang and Cat married young, raised a small but happy family, and spent their later years in the good company of one an other, until the last.
Salamander found Scar Face, and used Blue Woody's bio suit to help him recover from his injuries. Collecting the bounty on Alpha kept him happy for a long time.
Lefty and Alexa lived on to parent a total of 17 children, their life and vigor staying on into old age as well as yours.
When McKilson retired, he put Lefty in charge of the company; G.R.I.D. eventually expanded into an international shipping company, and Coleson went back to the sea, now as a captain.
As for Selly, Barton, and the rest of the supporters, their small establishments flourished into great businesses, providing excellent services and conveniences to the public.
But through all of this, beneath all of the success that these heroes brought about, there lingered one unanswered question...
It seems that I haven't actually responded when I originally saw this. I don't know if you ever look back here. I mostly just wanted to say that I hope you're doing well wherever you're at, and I wish you the best! I don't really use colors anymore, so sorry my replies are always late. But just in case you do ever see this and you ever just feel like saying hi, I'll stop by to say hi back.

The day has finally come.
You meet Lefty at Halo's base, with Shaun in tow.

And once again, you are a hero.

Did Britt say "yes" when T. Rex proposed?
