Hey, I remember this picture! I can tell you're thinking and it's looking better!
Might I recommend something, though? Try looking at paintings similar to this and ask yourself: "How did they achieve this affect?" Study them, observe them, and then return to your own painting.
Of course, you may already do this, and if you do, please just ignore my ramblings, haha.
