Thanks, my values are usually washed out, especially the darks. This was a good chance to practice.

I usually wind up tweaking in Corel Photopaint to get contrast where I want it. For something like this the blend modes are very helpful for spot adjusting the contrast. I can use add mode to give a better glow effect, and use multiply to bring out more subtle shadows without painting over as much.
