#driftmetalold
drift's a character who i absolutely /struggle/ to draw from certain angles/i literally cannot make a good reference for him in a single drawing
so it's time for multiple drawings.. assuming i can keep motivation for them
here's him from behind/how his wings open up
drift has a durable chest monitor and then a much more breakable back monitor which is meant to directly transmit holographic beetle wings (which are solid, think lightsaber wings)
thus, it's shinier

drift, when flying, will usually wrap his scarf up a lot more and move the "tail" of it to the front to prevent it from getting caught in his wings
he's able to swivel his elytra/wing covers pretty far in several directions, but this also means that, while they're durable against blunt force and such when flat/protecting his back, it's slightly easy to rip the covers off if you catch drift off guard
if drift ever overheats (doesnt happen often, but still possible), then he'll open up his wing covers and "air out", with steam of sorts usually rising from his back
if he's unconscious, then you can manually push the covers up with enough force and press at the top of his back (aka that small blue thing you can see), and that'll make him air out like that
with drift's wings being holographic, he's able to create multiple types of wings, such as bird wings, bat wings, butterfly wings, etc., but he's most used to beetle wings and won't ever do that

at least, not without a good reason
he could even more theoretically also generate say, an extra pair of (very bug lookin) limbs from his back to guard somethin, or even just create a jet in case flying normally wouldnt be fast enough
anything /other/ than his default beetle wings can and will be quite taxing, however, so he usually doesnt go too crazy with that unless he's in a pinch
i'll talk more about other stuff with him if/when i get to more drawings relating to him
i'll eventually put everything under a tag #driftref or smth, but it aint tagged on this yet in case i dont get to everythin else
k im done rambling.. for now

also, im not sure if you do it or not but if not, have you tried "breaking" drift down into rough shapes and figuring the dimensions of him? that might make him easier to draw from all kinds of angles. like draw his torso and figure the angles/contours/whatnot of it, do the same for other parts (like arms, elytra, so forth), and work on getting a better idea on how you want everything to fit together. (bad wording ahoy)
