The Ghost Festival is a Chinese/Buddhist holiday where it is believed that the spirits of deceased ancestors come from the afterlife to visit the living. There's food offered to the spirits, the burning of incense, and the burning of paper-mache versions of money, clothes, and other goods. They also buy and release mini paper boats and lanterns in water. Thank you to the amazing @SecretHorror for this AU. ^-^
