Also-- @ signs aren't used for tagging, they're are to find users when searching. Like if you wanted to search for someone, you'd type @[their name] in the search bar. " @Krazy Katt111" for example. Hash tags/pound keys ( /whatever else they're called) are for tags.
Uppercase letters don't affect tags ( #mlp and #MLP are the same) and nor do numbers, but anything else (any sort of symbols or spaces) will "break" the tag. " #my little pony"
Oh and if you're using a european 3ds and don't have the hash tag on your 3ds keyboard, typing two colons : next to eachother (without a space) will give you a hash tag. : :mlp (without the space) becomes #mlp. :^)
