Elijah had arrived in a village where the beings either looked like Captain and his mother. Looked human or elvish.

He was faced with hostility and unbeknownst to Captain and his Mother, Elijah was going to kill them all...

It was Captain's Mother's gift that saved them all. But more on that later.

In this picture, a few years have passed, but Elijah still gets nasty looks, gets attacked or people refer to him as harsh slurs.

Him and Captain are about 9 years old here.

And Captain, although not his name at the time, reassures Elijah that no matter how bad the world treats him. He'll always have his back, no matter what.

Elijah, especially when younger, always found it hard to hide his inhuman features. Even as an adult, he doesn't enjoy it.

He describes it as the longer he goes disguised, the more his muscles feel knotted up and cramped. It becomes unbearably painful.

As a kid, he often appeared like he is in the picture or worse. He can make his skin snow white, like his feet, and Captain never liked it.

When it was night, Eli would have a faint glow to him, so Captain compared Elijah to ghouls or ghosts, which made Eli a little self conscious, he knows ghouls and ghosts are often perceived as creepy.

That was the last thing he needed to add to his already bad reputation...
