Mah new Kelpie boy <3
I think I shaded with too dark of colors, any tips?
Name: Topaz (I might change this)
Species: Kelpie
Gender: Male
Age: 103
Bio: Topaz is naive as well as being a little bit reckless. He is also a big baby and his feelings are easily hurt. Topaz has a human form as well, in that form, he likes to buy lots of clothes. He looks twenty-five but he acts five. If his feelings are hurt, he'll probably sit down and pout.

if you feel like you shaded too dark/you had to shade with really dark colors to get the intensity/darkness you wanted on the shadows, you made the picture too dark overall. you'll want to redo all the other colors and lighten them up (including [subject]'s colors).
i make things too dark overall a lot myself, i've tried to catch and correct it more as of late but sometimes i get lazy and don't wanna bother redoing anything so blah :'D
also i dunno how you go about coloring but if you usually color a character in /before/ the background, try doing the bg first a bit, doing the bg first helps with making a character's colors moreee... appropriate? my brain just went kaput and i forgot the word i was gonna use lol.

Ooo this came out so good! Love the way you were able to do the lighting and shading so well, and that seaweed is looking amazing.

This looks fantastic!! I love the shading and textures!
If you ever shade too dark, just make he highlights brighter. It'll also pop a lot more that way x)
