okay--
i think youll just have to work at making yourself draw chars in other ways. (and imagining them differently too)
itll be tough at first but itll get easier the more you do it. i used to not be able to do fullbody realistic ish equines but over time ive learnt how to draw them better & now i can do fullbodies.
im sorry i dont have better advice than this lol. i think i used to have some similiar trouble but ive honestly forgot my exact steps with fighting it (i think you know how crappy my memory can be at this point) knowing the way i do art stuff, im assuming i just worked over time to correct it.
