This is Nigel, though, some call him Felix. He's a mechanical tinkerer with a goofy personality. Ideas are hit or miss with him, which is appropiate for his binary specific field.

Nigel is the catalyst of the entire plot. He discovers the true purpose of the energy-providing crystals littered around his hometown, as well as co-developing a means to combat those willing to destroy the world behind the discovery.
