Maldius is, out of all my OCs, the one who has aged the most--and not in the usual way. When I first came up with him, he was just a little baby dragonet, much like @ShadowPikaboo's own OC Boo, only Maldius was so young he couldn't even talk yet, and he wasn't even purple--he was a solid black dragonet with yellow eyes who had a thing for trying to chew on swords. I only made him because I wanted a cute little dragon pet OC.

Then I forgot he existed for like 2 years and brought him back as a slightly older dragon, in around his teens, and I gave him a backstory as well--Oh no, Maldius was actually a bad guy once, but then he died and was reborn with amnesia and now he's a good guy who struggles with his dark past! At this point in time, Maldius quickly became one of my favorite OCs--he started off still a solid black dragon, but somewhere down the line I made him purple, he had a friendly, buddy-buddy personality and never give up attitude, he was the guy who'd always be there for you when you're down, and he was the first to stand up to protect his friends and adopted family from evil. He was a bit arrogant and rather power-hungry, but overall he had a heart of gold and wanted to help people...

Maldius at this point is actually what later inspired Dreamweaver's personality, in some ways you can look at Weaver and see who Maldius used to be, I've even given Weaver a lot of the old songs I used to use for Maldius.

Then, not too long after I joined Colors!, I joined The Dragon Society role play, and felt I would try my hand at tapping into that "dark past" aspect of Maldius, which, in a way, solidified him as a villain. I had no idea what I was doing in TDS though, and when that RP died out, I blamed myself and grew to despise Maldius, but after talking with some people and clearing things up, I've gotten over that.

Now, I'm crafting a new story for Maldius, he's is the oldest he's ever been and is an old, fallen, corrupted king, and the whole "Harbinger of Despair" thing? You'll have to wait and see what that means... If I ever get to writing his story here. :P

Let's see, some more fun facts.

Maldius' yellow eyes are something he's had from the very beginning, that's something I've done with Alaviron as well--no matter how much I change their designs, their eyes always stay the same.

Magical purple roses have always been a recurring theme for Maldius, I believe in his original story, an enchanted rose is what gave him his memories back, then later he gave a similar purple rose to my friend's OC who he viewed as a little sister, and the rose would wilt or perk up or grow sharper thorns according to how he was feeling.

In my new story for him, Maldius is married and had three kids.

In Altoria, his homeworld, he towers over all other dragons, as they are usually small compared to other people's species, and canonically he can corrupt other dragons and drive them insane just by being near them. (But that would be no fun in a random RP, now would it?)

I'm in love with all the well-drawn details in his design! I also like that there are variations of the purple and some patterns instead of him being one solid color.

Thanks! I'm hoping to major in animation and maybe find a minor that could get me into voice acting ^-^
And, D&D is freaking awesome, it's not that hard to get into, just a lot of mechanics to learn. It can be really fun if you find the right people to play with.

Ah driving the bane of my existence, don't feel like you need to rush on that. It's better to take your time and be comfortable with learning to do that. It's a big step.
And I'm glad to see you're still enjoying art, honestly OCs are the best way to stay engaged, creating stuff for your own enjoyment is 10 times more rewarding.

I actually deleted my dA account, was never a big fan of the site. I haven't actually been posting art anywhere for a while. But I'm trying to start up new art accounts on tumblr and instagram ^-^;

Yeah I really want to get back into art again, I missed it. It's been almost two years now since this depressive art block started and I really want to snap out of it and get back to drawing!
I just wish I could show my friends here what I've been up to, but it's too hard to draw on the 3DS now that I've gotten used to my tablet :/
But it's really nice to hear that you liked my art style, I'm pretty sure it's either completely changed or nonexistent at this point ^-^;
